Designed as part of a comprehensive IBM client/server computing solution, the Query Server attaches to a front end, IBM ESCON-capable mainframe system running MVS/ESA and DATABASE 2 (DB2).nWith the Query Server, users submit questions written in SQL from their familiar decision support tools and applications that run on the front-end system. The front-end system dynamically routes the queries to the Query Server where parallel processing is used to reduce elapsed time and processing cost.
