The cartridge contained approximately 770 inches of magnetic tape where information was stored in the familiar format of IBM\'s 3336 disk packs -- giving the tape medium the random access characteristics of disk drives. Two cartridges could hold up to 100 million characters of information, equivalent to one disk pack.
