BESCHREIBUNG: The new IBM 609 Calculator is a high-speed, punched card machine which achieves powerful performance through solid-state circuitry. A single compact unit houses the functions of input, calculation, storage, and output. In vacuum tube machines, these functions require several separate units. No air conditioning or special power lines are required to operate the 609, resulting in considerable savings for users. Other important features are magnetic core storage, built-in incremental expansion which enables core storage and program steps to be easily increased at any time, and non-stop radial card stackers which permit output cards to be removed without danger of card jams while the machine is running.
