BESCHREIBUNG: Die Bezeichung ASIC steht für Application-Specific Integrated Circuit. Diese Chips werden für einzelne, individuelle Anwendungen entwickelt. ASICs entstehen durch die neue Kombination von vorhanden Mikroschaltkreisen, so genannten Circuit Building Blocks. Diese existieren bereits in einer Library, so dass die Entwicklung eines ASIC wesentlich einfacher ist, als das Design für einen vollständig neuen Chip zu entwickeln.
